Biosphere and AceiteSolidario join forces to promote recycling initiatives that minimise the impact of companies' waste.
This solidary collaboration seeks to raise awareness among the business community about social support projects and actions that reduce their environmental impact, thus contributing to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4, 6, and 13.
Biosphere, the international sustainability management and recognition system under the 17 SDGs and UN targets, through this alliance, helps its community members adopt better practices by providing a free way to handle this waste more appropriately, positively and directly impacting SDGs 2 and 12.
Among the best practices companies can develop and demonstrate with their sustainability plans through the Biosphere certification system is setting up oil collection points and cooperating in the reuse of this material. Now, with the collaboration between Biosphere and AceiteSolidario, adopting this continuous improvement action in companies' ESG models and plans becomes much more feasible and scalable.
AceiteSolidario provides a cost-free waste manager for companies to collect and treat this waste, providing the kitchen with the necessary barrels and determining the frequency of collection for proper waste management. This offers companies a free solution to contribute to these SDGs, ensuring proper waste treatment in a more sustainable process that will ultimately convert the waste into Biodiesel fuel.
But that's not all! Companies donating their waste to this organization can choose which social cause to support with the profits from its conversion to Biodiesel. In collaboration with Biosphere, synergies will be facilitated among a network of more than 4,500 member companies to encourage participation in the project. Among the social initiatives they can support is the first online academy for young people with intellectual disabilities, the ASB Academy, where they receive speech therapy and therapeutic pedagogy sessions to acquire skills and competencies to help them in their daily lives.
Disposing of used oil in unsuitable places leads to water pollution, air contamination, and forms a layer that prevents oxygen from circulating freely in the sea. With this alliance, Biosphere and AceiteSolidario offer a viable and scalable solution for any organization, regardless of sector and size. A response for the sector in its contribution to the SDGs, which has a double environmental and socio-cultural impact, as it supports SDGs 2, 4, 6, 12, and 13, and allows participation and donation to practically any Sustainable Development Goal.
"We know that sustainable development should be the roadmap for any company, but sometimes the sector needs viable and scalable options for its reality and lacks the necessary information and contacts. With this collaboration, we aim to provide a real solution to these companies, facilitating new synergies and allies they can rely on to achieve the sustainability goals we so strongly advocate for," says Beatriz Margallo, Export Manager of Biosphere.
This collaboration between Biosphere and AceiteSolidario represents a firm commitment to establishing alliances and cooperation bridges that ensure accessible projects and initiatives contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals.
In the words of José Ramón Cuesta, CEO and co-founder of AceiteSolidario, "For social entities and companies to find common ground for developing sustainable economic models with high social and environmental impact is undoubtedly the way forward to achieve a new economic model."
These actions, which more and more companies are joining, not only benefit the entities themselves but also transform communities and pave the way for a more conscious future.
