Alentejo in Portugal Continues Working to become a Biosphere Destination

The Regional Tourism Entity of Alentejo and Ribatejo started in 2016 to invest in the Qualification in Sustainability of the entire Tourist Value Chain, which will soon lead to the Certification of the Destination Alentejo and Ribatejo.

The first project “Biosphere Certification - Hotel Establishments aimed to implement the Biosphere international standard. The project, which involved 51 Hotels, has already closed and been hugely successful, with 39 units already certified and 12 in the process of certification.

The Regional Tourism Entity will now launch the second phase of this ambitious project, extending the investment to Holiday Rentals, involving more than 50 companies as of November.
