At the recent FITUR 2025 edition, Biosphere and Turismo Lanzarote presented a dossier showcasing successful sustainability cases in the islands of Lanzarote and La Graciosa. This document highlights companies that are already Biosphere Certified or in the process of obtaining certification. All of them have made a strong commitment to the SDGs and a responsible tourism model, focused on environmental preservation and boosting the local economy.
As part of FITUR 2025, Biosphere, in collaboration with Turismo Lanzarote (SPEL), the Lanzarote Tourism Federation, and ASOLAN, presented the dossier "Discovering Sustainability Success Stories in Lanzarote and La Graciosa". This document highlights the commitment of numerous local businesses to sustainability, showcasing their best practices aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Biosphere Sustainable certification.
As a Biosphere Certified Destination, Lanzarote reaffirms its leadership in responsible tourism, strengthening its commitment to a sustainable tourism model. Through this initiative, the destination highlights the efforts of businesses that have implemented sustainable strategies.
Developed with Biosphere’s expertise, the dossier compiles best practices in environmental management, energy efficiency, and social responsibility, demonstrating how Biosphere certification serves as a key tool for measuring and improving sustainability in the tourism sector.
The event featured key figures from the tourism sector in Lanzarote, including Oswaldo Betancort García, President of the Cabildo Insular de Lanzarote; Héctor Fernández Manchado, CEO of Turismo Lanzarote (SPEL); Susana Pérez Represa, President of the Federación Turística de Lanzarote and ASOLAN. As well as with the presence ofPatricio Azcárate, Secretary General of the Instituto de Turismo Responsable (ITR) and CEO of Biosphere.
