Biosphere Responsible Tourism wishes you Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year.
This 2016 has been a great year for us. We have adapted our methodology and standards to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals as well as developed an online platform for the certificaction of tourism entities that begin their path to sustainability, available from any part of the world. With the certification of new entities and destinations, such as Arona or Euskadi, the Biosphere community has grown, a community committed to sustainability and continuous improvement.
But we are not finished ...
We will start with the announcement of the International Re Think Biosphere Awards on Wednesday, January 18, during the Fitur Green event, of which the Responsible Tourism Institute is a co-organizer, and we will continue with the International Conference in Donosti, "Tourism Destinations and their contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals ".
Lastly, and on the occasion of the proclamation of 2017 as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism, in 2017 we have comitted more than ever to the promotion of sustainable tourism destinations and entities, with the aim of always increasing the recognition by tourists of the efforts in Sustainability that these entities perform. To this end, the Responsible Tourism Institute starts #TOURISM17, an initiative that seeks to promote sustainability not as a strategic element, but as a new model of development in which the tourism sector must bet decisively.
