Aldeas Históricas de Portugal, in partnership with Renault, is making five electric cars available to tourists, residents and professionals in the region. This initiative aims to make the region a benchmark for sustainable mobility.
Travelling around Portugal's Historic Villages is easier, cheaper and more sustainable than ever. The Association for the Development of Tourism in the Historical Villages of Portugal and Renault Portugal, in partnership with the Municipality of Fundão, have launched a pioneering project offering five electric cars free of charge for tourists, residents or professionals working in the area.
The models available are the Renault Twizy, the Renault Twingo Electric, the Renault ZOE and the Renault Kangoo Z. E. They can be booked through the website or at the Tourist Office of the Historical Village of Castelo Novo, indicating the dates of collection and return. In addition, from the same link you can plan the rest of the trip through the Historical Villages by choosing accommodation, restaurants and various activities.
The aim is to turn the Historical Village of Castelo Novo into the first city in mainland Portugal with 100% sustainable mobility. As well as reinforcing the commitment to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and ensuring that journeys between the 12 villages are more environmentally friendly.
In addition, a free shuttle service from Castelo Novo, Alpedrinha or Fundão train stations is also available.
