The World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Awards (WSTHA) have opened registrations for their 2024 program.
These prestigious awards invite both individuals and organizations from around the world who are working for positive change and making significant contributions in sustainable travel and tourism to participate for free to obtain this recognition and exposure.
With 21 categories ranging from environmental conservation to social engagement, the WSTHA reflects the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the net positive approach of People, Planet, Place, Prosperity, and Partnerships. The deadline for registrations is May 24th.
Winners will be honored at a gala ceremony in Belize as the Official Host Destination on September 27th. Additionally, global voting, open to travel and tourism professionals, will take place from June 14th to August 2nd.
The WSTHA Advisory Council is comprised of prominent authorities, academics, and dignitaries, including the Institute of Responsible Tourism (ITR), with the participation of Secretary-General Patricio Azcárate.
Justin Cooke, Executive Vice President of WSTHA, declared on the opening day of registrations: "On behalf of WSTHA, I am pleased to open registrations for our inaugural program. We welcome entries from across the sustainable travel and hospitality sector, with our goal of recognizing and telling the stories of those who are accelerating change and making a sustainable impact on our planet for the next generation."
Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism of Belize, stated: "We are excited for the next stage in the World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Awards, with the 21 categories open for registrations starting today. We encourage individuals, organizations, and advocates for responsible tourism to share their stories and initiatives, highlighting how they are leading the way and taking encouraging steps towards a better future."
The WSTHA program is also conducted in collaboration with the Sustainable Hospitality Alliance (SHA), whose donor and member organizations represent over 50,000 hotels, 7 million rooms worldwide, 270 brands, and more than 40 strategic and supply chain partners. Glenn Mandziuk, CEO of SHA and Vice President of the WSTHA Advisory Council, says: "In our pursuit of a Net Positive future, every organization advancing sustainable practices is a beacon of hope.
