For the fourth consecutive year, Skål International continues its collaboration with Biosphere© and the Responsible Tourism Institute to award the "Skål Biosphere Sustainable Special Award" to each of the Sustainable Tourism winners.
Skål International, an Affiliate Member of UNWTO whose mission is to promote the development of responsible, accessible, sustainable and universal tourism, maintains for the fourth consecutive year the collaboration with Biosphere© and the Responsible Tourism Institute to award the "Skål Biosphere Sustainable Special Award" which will be presented to each of the winners of the Sustainable Tourism Awards, and will be selected based on the RTI's pillars of sustainability.
Unlike previous editions, in this 2022 edition, Skål International and the World Tourism Organisation are joining forces to give a greater dimension to these awards, which Skål International has been awarding since 2002.
From Biosphere©, in this edition we will give each winner a free year's subscription to the Biosphere Sustainable platform, where they will be able to create their own personalised Sustainability Plans for continuous improvement and recognition of the efforts of their companies or organisations.
In the event that an association, hotel chain or business group is awarded in any of the categories, they will receive free access to Biosphere Sustainable for 5 member entities of their group for a whole year; and if the lucky winner is a DMO, they will be given exclusive access to the new Biosphere platform for destinations, with which they can begin to align their territorial projects with the 2030 Agenda.
The Sustainable Tourism Awards ceremony usually takes place during the Opening Ceremony of the annual Skål World Congress. This year, Rijeka-Opatija in the Kvarner region of Croatia will host the Skål World Congress 2022 from 13-18 October, which will be the setting for this year's awards ceremony.
The deadline for submission of projects is 30 June 2022 at 23.59 CET. Participation is free of charge. It is highly recommended to write the content of the entry form in English as the judges are of different nationalities.
