The President of the RTI has participated in the VI Edition of InterEcoForum, an international meeting dedicated to different topics about sustainability in tourist sector, such as quality and competitiveness of the sector, health and wellness sector and efficiency in the usage of resources by tourism industry.
During the days 23 and 24 of March, Marbella hosted the VI Edition of the InterEcoForum, an international event annually celebrated for discussing and raising awareness about different areas of sustainable development. Some topics that have been tackled in former editions are energy, infrastructures and transportations.
This time the forum has been dedicated to Sustainable Tourism with the aim to interchange innovative ideas and to provide practical solutions in order to encourage sustainable tourism among this sector. The celebration of this meeting coincides with the proclamation by the United Nations of 2017 as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development and with the celebration of the Dual Year of Tourism Russia-Spain.
The event has been co-organized with the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO),which is an academic institution run by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, and the UN Russia Association and it has had as participants many experts of the sector such as Jin Yung Woo, of the World Tourism Organisation, Peter Debrine, of the Center of World Heritage of the UNESCO, Luigi Cabrini, of the World Council of Sustainable Tourism or Tomás Azcárate, president of the Responsible Tourism Institute.
Within the concept of sustainability in tourism sector, this forum has deeply tackled the topics of quality and competitiveness in the sector, health and wellness tourism and efficiency in the use of resources by the sector. The president of the Responsible Tourism Institute, Tomás Azcárate, has participated as key speaker in the conference with the presentation of the Responsible Tourism System.
