For the second year in a row, Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association (TOTA) has been recognized by the World Travel Awards (WTA) as the North’s America’s Responsible Tourism Leader Award.
The World Travel Awards were established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries and their compromise to follow a more sustainable journey in the sector. Nowadays, they are a worldwide reference for being the most noteworthy awards in tourism.
The Award was announced at the 2019 Caribbean & North America Gala Ceremony hosted in Jamaica on January 28. It is a remarkable event within the tourism industry and this year had the representation of government officials, industry leaders, and international media.
This recognition acknowledges all the efforts that TOTA has made over the past 7 years, a rough journey that has brought them once again to achieve this status and showcase their commitment to sustainability.
“This recognition is such an honour as it comes from tourism industry leaders from around the globe and reinforces the Association’s commitment to advancing the Region as a leader in Sustainable Responsible Tourism,” said TOTA President & CEO Glenn Mandziuk.
Furthermore, TOTA expressed their gratitude with the team of professionals that helped them achieve this recognition, from the Board and Staff to agencies partners, which through team work and collaboration contributed to accomplish these goals. The Responsible Tourism Institute wants to congratulate TOTA for its award, we hope this achievement will reinforce your commitment with sustainability
