Award ceremony for the winners of the II Edition of the Sustainable Stand Award.
The II Sustainable Stand Awards, organised with the collaboration of the Responsible Tourism Institute (ITR), were created with the aim of recognising and highlighting the efforts of exhibitors to show their alignment with the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals that will mark the recovery of the sector. These awards also highlight the work that IFEMA MADRID has been doing for years to improve the impact of its activity on the social and natural environment in which it is located. These efforts allow it to promote these values to companies and their exhibitors, as well as to visitors to the fairs and events held at its venues. As an added value, IFEMA has the ISO 20121 for sustainable events.
Vectalia, Paradores, SEGITTUR, Argentina, Illes Balears, Asturias, Canary Islands and Costa Rica were the winners in this edition. All of them with the common denominator of their environmentally friendly legacy through the use of recyclable materials and 100% renewable energy sources.
We would like to highlight some of the actions of these award winners, such as the donation of 1,000 trees to the visitors of the Vectalia stand, an interesting proposal to compensate its carbon footprint and especially valued for its didactic significance, or the explanatory panels of the Paradores stand, a double exercise of disclosure and transparency. Mention should also be made of the inclusive actions detected at the stands of these participants, such as that of Segittur, with the deployment of signage in Braille, or the removal of architectural barriers at the stand of the Balearic Islands. Finally, we would like to highlight in terms of recycling and reuse the stands of Asturias, the Canary Islands and Costa Rica, which have opted for renewable materials to achieve this task.
